The speaker suggests that showing audience good people rewarded and bad people punished is a sound advice. In my view, I agree with this statement except some circumstances.
For one thing, good actions rewarded in movies and televisions can help audiences build valid judgments, which reinforce their healthy self-esteem and self-confidence. According to the praise of good behaviors by media, audiences will realize the benefit of good actions and then feedback positive ones. What's more, as students grow, their behaviors' criteria are simultaneous forming. In this stage, it is important to reveal them what correct and positive actions can play valuable roles in the society.
While recommending praise for good people, sometimes, is limited to some conditions. For example, when movies and televisions praise Edward Teller made contributions on nuclear weapon from the view of technology, audiences may ignore this development also brought about brutal wars to the humans. Therefore, movies and televisions cannot always make comprehensive judgments because of approaching their subjects. In this case, some audiences may feedback invalid information to work their behaviors.
An equal important view is that showing bad people punished on the movies or televisions can help people to correct their actions. For instance, one plot like a thief who was arrested and kept in prison, audiences, especially students, may realize stealing is an illicit action and we cannot do that thing. However, we need also consider that whether the criticism is true or justified. Nowadays many rumors are filled with movies and televisions and the truth may not be received by audiences. In this case, the unjustified criticism from the media will mislead audiences' judgments. What's worse, these conditions happen to our children who have not completely formed their estimation.
In short, this advice aims at giving a way for people to form a perfect judgment, but ignores what revealed by movies and televisions has its limitation and injustice. Yet advice has its defect, its significance is still valuable.
When it comes to whether movies and televisions should always show audience good people are being rewarded and bad people are being punished, different people hold different ideas. As far as I am concerned, they should do this.
However, some people may disagree with me. They claim that in real life, not every kind person have a good consequence. Sometimes the kindness will cause a wicked reward, yet some evils are living comfortably, so the deed doesn't meet the reality.
Well, it's time that I respond. I will do so from two aspects.
First, even though good and bad consequence may not happen to where they should, the probability is different. To make things clear, suppose a man who always help others and another man often steals things from others, who do you think will be more likely to go through setbacks they encounter. Of course the former person, because people who have obtained his help will do him a favor but there is hardly any person who is willing to help the latter man. In that case, good people win more support and live more happily. This exactly is a great reward. For this reason, Televisions and movies haven't expressed anything unreliable.
Second, media like TVs and movies should distinguish themselves from normal ways of spreading points. The value system they transmit will do a heavy influence on people who watch them. For example, after we watch the movie The Notebook, we may tend to believe that the purest love exists in this planet, even though we feel disappointed during our past emotional experience. When we see The Pursuit of Happiness, we may deeply impressed by the hero's persistence and confidence. Thus, it cheers us up and stimulates us to make a fresh start to pursuit our dream. Nevertheless, if they told us that it's useless to seek for anything because only small part of them can achieve their goals while others turn to make a compromise with the present, what would you think?
To sum up, given all the reasons discussed above, we can safely reach the conclusion that Movies and Televisions are responsible to convey the positive viewpoints to us, which will benefit both the individuals and the society.
