Sample writing

Both the reading passage and the lecture focus on Whether trex dinasours can run. According to the author, evidence has been found to prove it can’t run.. The lecturer, however, holds the opposite view, challenging the argument made in the reading passage.

The first point mentioned by the author to support the argument is it is too huge to run. On the other hand, the lecturer refutes this by saying that many animals are much huger than trex dianosaurs. They can run. Why can’t trex dinasours run? Thus, it is reasonable to suppose this.

Moreover, the author talked about the fact that its toes are too small which can not support its body. The lecturer casts doubt on this idea by saying that the size of toes is not a necessary requirement in running.

In addition, the author points out that it doesn’t have enough muscles for running needs the power of muscles. The lecturer challenges the idea by saying that although it doesn’t have enough muscles, its power is huge.

To sum up, the author contends that trex dinasours can run. However, the lecture deeply believes that they cannot run.

Tyrannosaurus is a genus of theropod dinosaur. The species Tyrannosaurus rex (rex meaning "king" in Latin), commonly abbreviated to T. rex, is a fixture in popular culture. It lived throughout what is now western North America, with a much wider range than other tyrannosaurids. Fossils are found in a variety of rock formations dating to the Maastrichtian age of the upper Cretaceous Period, 67 to 65.5 million years ago.[1] It was among the last non-avian dinosaurs to exist prior to the Cretaceous–Tertiary extinction event.

Like other tyrannosaurids, Tyrannosaurus was a bipedal carnivore with a massive skull balanced by a long, heavy tail. Relative to the large and powerful hindlimbs, Tyrannosaurus forelimbs were small, though unusually powerful for their size, and bore two clawed digits. Although other theropods rivaled or exceeded Tyrannosaurus rex in size, it was the largest known tyrannosaurid and one of the largest known land predators, measuring up to 12.8 m (42 ft) in length,[2] up to 4 metres (13 ft) tall at the hips,[3] and up to 6.8 metric tons (7.5 short tons) in weight.[4] By far the largest carnivore in its environment, Tyrannosaurus rex may have been an apex predator, preying upon hadrosaurs and ceratopsians, although some experts have suggested it was primarily a scavenger. The debate over Tyrannosaurus as apex predator or scavenger is among the longest running debates in paleontology.

More than 30 specimens of Tyrannosaurus rex have been identified, some of which are nearly complete skeletons. Soft tissue and proteins have been reported in at least one of these specimens. The abundance of fossil material has allowed significant research into many aspects of its biology, including life history and biomechanics. The feeding habits, physiology and potential speed of Tyrannosaurus rex are a few subjects of debate. Its taxonomy is also controversial, with some scientists considering Tarbosaurus bataar from Asia to represent a second species of Tyrannosaurus and others maintaining Tarbosaurus as a separate genus. Several other genera of North American tyrannosaurids have also been synonymized with Tyrannosaurus.

1.

The speaker suggests that showing audience good people rewarded and bad people punished is a sound advice. In my view, I agree with this statement except some circumstances.

For one thing, good actions rewarded in movies and televisions can help audiences build valid judgments, which reinforce their healthy self-esteem and self-confidence. According to the praise of good behaviors by media, audiences will realize the benefit of good actions and then feedback positive ones. What's more, as students grow, their behaviors' criteria are simultaneous forming. In this stage, it is important to reveal them what correct and positive actions can play valuable roles in the society.

While recommending praise for good people, sometimes, is limited to some conditions. For example, when movies and televisions praise Edward Teller made contributions on nuclear weapon from the view of technology, audiences may ignore this development also brought about brutal wars to the humans. Therefore, movies and televisions cannot always make comprehensive judgments because of approaching their subjects. In this case, some audiences may feedback invalid information to work their behaviors.

An equal important view is that showing bad people punished on the movies or televisions can help people to correct their actions. For instance, one plot like a thief who was arrested and kept in prison, audiences, especially students, may realize stealing is an illicit action and we cannot do that thing. However, we need also consider that whether the criticism is true or justified. Nowadays many rumors are filled with movies and televisions and the truth may not be received by audiences. In this case, the unjustified criticism from the media will mislead audiences' judgments. What's worse, these conditions happen to our children who have not completely formed their estimation.

In short, this advice aims at giving a way for people to form a perfect judgment, but ignores what revealed by movies and televisions has its limitation and injustice. Yet advice has its defect, its significance is still valuable.

2.

When it comes to whether movies and televisions should always show audience good people are being rewarded and bad people are being punished, different people hold different ideas. As far as I am concerned, they should do this.

However, some people may disagree with me. They claim that in real life, not every kind person have a good consequence. Sometimes the kindness will cause a wicked reward, yet some evils are living comfortably, so the deed doesn't meet the reality.

Well, it's time that I respond. I will do so from two aspects.

First, even though good and bad consequence may not happen to where they should, the probability is different. To make things clear, suppose a man who always help others and another man often steals things from others, who do you think will be more likely to go through setbacks they encounter. Of course the former person, because people who have obtained his help will do him a favor but there is hardly any person who is willing to help the latter man. In that case, good people win more support and live more happily. This exactly is a great reward. For this reason, Televisions and movies haven't expressed anything unreliable.

Second, media like TVs and movies should distinguish themselves from normal ways of spreading points. The value system they transmit will do a heavy influence on people who watch them. For example, after we watch the movie The Notebook, we may tend to believe that the purest love exists in this planet, even though we feel disappointed during our past emotional experience. When we see The Pursuit of Happiness, we may deeply impressed by the hero's persistence and confidence. Thus, it cheers us up and stimulates us to make a fresh start to pursuit our dream. Nevertheless, if they told us that it's useless to seek for anything because only small part of them can achieve their goals while others turn to make a compromise with the present, what would you think?

To sum up, given all the reasons discussed above, we can safely reach the conclusion that Movies and Televisions are responsible to convey the positive viewpoints to us, which will benefit both the individuals and the society.
