As I see it, school facilities is a very important element to be considered, especially the library and the student center where student spend most of the time on their study. Besides, the cafeteria can’t be overlooked for eating is a main part of one’s daily life. I will find out whether the food is scrumptious and if the service is nice in a school beforeI apply for it.
Some people prefer to have friends who share the similar ideas of the world. Others prefer to have friends who hold different ideas of the world. Which do you prefer?
I suppose that having friends with similar ideas towards things is better. To start with, we can avoid the frequent disagreement on things from whether the government should make college education free to if Titanic is a touching film. Apart from that, it’s really hard to for me to hang out with someone liking the totally different stuff from me. I think we may hold a separate view towards one place, say, nightclub. That would be awful.
The reading passage is about an announcement of changing the student center into the new library to gain more space for shelves and reading materials and to provide spacious room for students to self-study.
In the listening, the boy is against the suggestion. He thinks technology may help solve the space problem for data can be scanned and loaded up into the computer and besides, students love to study at the student center rather than the library so that this change is actually away from its purpose.
In the reading passage, referential alarm calls is mentioned which is a signal animals give out for their peers to stay alert of the natural enemy.
And in the listening material, professor points out the case of meerkats which tend to live underground but will go to the surface for food. Their two main natural enemies are big birds and snakes. If meerkats find the former, they will make this kind of loud sound to warn others and then they will quickly hide in the burrows. As for the snakes, meerkats will produce a different signal to assemble their companions and scare the predator away.
The girl in the listening material wants to get a minor degree so that she has to join this summer school but faces the financial problem.
Now there are two solutions available. The first one would be working at the library at the sacrifice of her time to study. The second one is cooking on her own at the dormitory so that she can save loads of money without going to take the part-time job.
I prefer the former advice since she can study and work at the same time and cooking, on the contrary is time-consuming. Besides, part-time job is a good chance to gain social experience.
