SPEAKING SECTION

Task 1

If you have a chance to go to the moon, would you go? Give reasons and details in your response.

Sample response

If I were given a chance to go to the moon, I would definitely choose to go for the following
reasons. First. I would love to look down on earth, look around into space. The whole experience
of getting there would be great. I'm a big fan of sci-fi movies growing up, going to the moon
means I get to see what’s it really like out there with my own eyes. Also the no gravity thing
would be cool and I can drink a drop of water floating in mid air and write my name in the dust.

Task 2

What would you build if you have the land to do so, a park or a library? Give specific reasons
and examples in your response.

Sample response

l would build a park if money and space isn't a problem to me. First of all, a park would give
people somewhere to slow down and enjoy themselves. Take Beijing for example. The city is so
crowded there's practically nowhere for people to chill out. A park would fix that problem. Second, a park is usually filled with trees and all sorts’ plants, which are good for the environment. They act as filters so clear out the air we breathe.

Task 3

Sample response

In the reading passage, we get to know that the student wrote a letter to school that he recommended to open the parking lots behind the building to students. The woman disagrees with the letter because first, she thinks that the current parking lots are not far away from the teaching buildings so it will only take 10 minutes’ walk to take the class. Besides, the parking lots for faculty are also jam-packed. The possibility of finding a parking lot in vain is pretty high.

Task 4

【名词解释】Advocacy JournalismAdvocacy journalism is a genre of journalism that intentionally and transparently adopts a biased viewpoint, usually for some social or political purpose.

【教授举例】professor's friend used to work for a newspaper. One day the city decided to
demolish a historical building. When the professor's friend found out about this, he wrote an
editorial starting with how demolishing the building will make ways for new buildings, and it's a
great plan. But he continued to write about how historical the building was and it's full of
memories for so many people in the city. So people decided to give the demolishing plan a
second thought.

Sample response

Advocacy Journalism refers that advocacy journalism is a genre of journalism that intentionally and transparently adopts a biased viewpoint, usually for some social or political purpose.

The professor gives an example of his friend. He used to work for a newspaper.

Task 5

【学生困难】The woman's roommate always watches TV at a high volume and that makes it hard for the woman to concentrate on her school work

方案一:go to the library to get her work done

评价:it's quiet and full of books and journals in the library

方案二:change to another dorm room

评价:she asked and there's a room available now

Sample response

The woman has encountered a problem that her roommate always watches TV at a high volume and that makes it hard for the woman to concentrate on her school work. She faces two solutions. The first is to go to the library to get her work done. The second is that she can change to another dorm room. Personally, I recommend the first solution. Because first, it's quiet and full of books and journals in the library

, so she can improve her working efficiency. And second, she will not be embarrassing to run into her roommate in the dorm.

Task 6
