It’s normal that opinions coming from a group of staff often conflict with each other, for people have different thoughts due to their diverse acknowledgement and characters. Facing disputes, some people are happy to accept other’s criticism with an open attitude, while others are not. If one doesn’t want to improve a lot or be successful, it’s acceptable to stick to his personality; it looks so cool in some way. But mentioning success, people who are not open to others’ criticism have fewer opportunities to win accomplishment.
One vital factor for success is the ability to correct and adjust promptly. It takes anyone time to realize mistakes with his own ability. Just like what we mentioned, competence from one person is limited, it’s unavoidable that his vision is not quite far-sighted or his angle is not comprehensive. While in teamwork, members can help each other realize what he can’t see. So, for a person who can’t listen to diverse opinions or negative comments, he will lose chances to adjust flaws. In a long term, his acknowledgement and horizon will be obstructed, and he is unlikely to make any improvement. Therefore, a person with open attitude to criticism can reorient direction in time and avoid losses; he will be successful more often.
To be successful, another fundamental factor is cooperative spirit. A person open to opposite opinions is generally more cooperative. Cooperation can benefit in many aspects, it brings more innovative ideas through brainstorming; it leads to more motivation through team building; it runs more effectively through group collaboration. Take holding a prom as an example, it’s one of school traditions, senior students have a party when graduating. If someone is asked to host this party, he can learn a lot from past experience, which is inspiring. But one depressing point is that more experience means hard to break through, if the person wants to make the party a fresh and impressive one, he needs a bunch of new ideas, which are seldom developed by one person. And then, he needs a team to implement these ideas, for a party’s organization includes location setting, catering, site decoration, invitation design and etc. It’s believed that capacity from several people is bound to be much more than from an individual, so a person with cooperative spirit is easy to win accomplishment.
In this competitive world, we seldom see examples that one can reach peak with his individual efforts, in most cases, it’s a result of teamwork. Therefore, a person who can accept diversity, coordinate difference and lead a team will get more chances to succeed.
