Task 1

Which period is the most difficult in your lifetime:childhood, teenage, or adult?

Sample response

Teenage could be the most difficult time in my lifetime. The main reason is because during this period, I have so much exams to face up with. For example, the big one before university. And apart from that, every week I got test for each subject which always makes me very nervous. I was absolutely scared thinking about that. Besides, parents’ high expectation for my final mark made me highly stressed everyday. And I feel that I lost a lot of chance doing imagination and those thing I would like to do like painting and playing music..

 

Task 2

We should focus on present or future?

Sample response

I think focusing on present and future are both very important. I think being happy  and positive might be much more important than others. Being happy about all the things I meet including failure because being happy and positive could help you to be open minded and easy to accept things and solve the problem effectively. The same as when plan about future. Being positive will leave a person more space to develop while not give oneself too much pressure

 

Task 3

The campus newspaper decided to give internship opportunity for journalism student working twenty hours per week. The man and the woman both think it’s a good chance, especially for the woman who is a journalism student. For her, first it is a real work in her area and she could get more professional experience. And these working experience will be very useful in her resume. Second, it could also replace one of her course and instead she could save these time to choose other newspaper course she like.

The way people interpret something that they see depends on what their experience have previously had. The professor gives out two examples: one is a woman on bus assignment saw a stranger man sit nearby, open notebook and write something on it. Her impression is the man is doing his assignment. Woman who just finish reading a book (poetry), thinks the man may write a poem.

 

 

Task 5

【学生困难】男生sam要坐飞机回家, 怎么去机场有问题(两个方案基本上都是他自己说的)

方案一:train: immediately to airport, cheap; not near; take the last train 提前一天:wait long time

方案二:  taxi: convenient: expensive, 比机票更贵

Sample response

The man is supposed to go home by airplane, but he has problem to decide which way to choose to go to the airport. Two solutions. One is to take the train to the airport and another is to take taxi. I suggest him to take a taxi. First, even if it’s much more expensive, it would be much more convenient. The reason is that the student will probably carry loads of heavy luggage and it’s worth of paying that. Seconds, even the train is direct to the airport but the train station is not very close to the student’s living place so that the students have to take the last train one day in advance.  

 

 

Task 6

【讲课要点】

Priming people interpret what happens on them with the things they experienced. 教授举两个women 来解释。

  第一个女人总坐公交车去学校assignments,上课时间什么的给她留下很深印象, 这时有一个男人在公交车上看一本书,他就会认为他在做作业。

  第二个女人喜欢读诗,她看见这个男人的时候,就会认为他是个诗人在作诗。
