SPEAKING SECTION

Task 1

Talk about a friend of yours and how you met this person.

Sample response

Sherry is one of my good friends. We met in university. I think she is very intelligent and considerate. I still could remember that she made a very good presentation in one of the linguistics class. I mean the way she illustrate her topics and also the fluent English she used both were really impressive. I really admire her. On the other hand, she once helped me generating a new and original idea when I got really confused about my essay writing.

Task 2

Some students like to take notes in class; others prefer to mainly listen to the teacher. Which do you prefer and why?

Sample response

I much prefer taking notes in class while listening to teachers. First, I think it is a good way to be one hundred focus. Because taking notes encourages me to understand teachers’ words quickly and also give me a good chance to reorganize what I learned from teachers. Next, some details might not be missed, especially when I want to review some important points after class notes could easily remind me

Task 3

【提议】The university is going to add a kitchen to the students' dormitory building

Reason l : Students can practice their cooking skills

Reason 2: Students can benefit from it

【学生议论】The man disagrees

理由1Spare room in dorms should be reserved for TVs and stuff to entertain friends

理由2Students are way too busy to study recipes. not to mention to cook for themselves. the dorms are either for relaxing or for studying

Sample response

The university is going to add a kitchen to the students’ dormitory building. This is supposed to practice students’ cooking skills and to give students some benefits. The man in the conversation disagrees with it. First, the kitchen will occupy the place where TVs should be put there. Therefore, stuff and students could entertain with their friends there. Also, students do not need kitchen really because students are too busy to study recipes and have not enough time to cook for themselves. So the dorms are either for relaxing or for studying.

Sample response

The woman has to carry her bike up and down the stairs and she is tired of it. There are two solutions. One is to leave it outside and another is to put it at her friend’s who lives on the 1st floor. If I were her, I would choose the first one. First, she could find some plastic raincoat to cover it on the bike when the bike is exposure to the rain. Also, it is not supposed to be convenient to disturb her friends to put her bike in her friend’s house on the first floor, since her friend has a different schedule from her.
