In our society, most people can be categorized into two groups – those who always follow their dreams even if the dreams are not quite easy to realize and those who usually focus on achieving realistic goals. Though it is hard to tell which one is right or which one is wrong, I believe as for the individual’s development, the former one is undoubtedly more advantageous.
First and foremost, having dreams in mind can dramatically exploit one’s potential and trigger fantastic ideas. Many achievements commonly seen in our daily life now were once unimaginable in previous days. Take Steve Jobs as an example, more than a successful businessman, he is an impressive dreamer. Jobs firstly came up with the idea of smart phones in 1980s and has dreamt of utilizing cellphones to decorate our life with more convenience. It seems to be an unrealistic goal at that time for most people even didn’t have a clue what cellphones were. However, Jobs stuck to his dream and kept working towards it until one day the dream has been fulfilled. But for his vision, many possibilities might have been eliminated.
Moreover, people who work with a dream in mind can improve their working efficiency and have a more promising future. Dreams are beneficial to success. If people only focus on goals within their reach, they cannot see the big picture. Their decisions are short-sighted, some of which are of little help in the future. They only concern about current situations and struggle with trivia. In the meanwhile, they waste a lot of time doing trifles, and thus distanced themselves from success. On the contrary, when people have a dream, ambitious as it might be, they can accordingly design a blueprint towards it. Although people sometimes may feel frustrated and weary halfway, it is definitely a short cut to success compared with only doing effortless tasks all the time.
Admittedly, we cannot deny the fact that being realistic is also essential. If one is only dreaming all day but not actually putting his thoughts into practice, still, nothing will be accomplished. Success is the result contributed from both dreams and diligence. If one has a dream, he should plan for the dream and try hard to realize it. To conclude, there has always been a motto which I quite admire - keep your head in the air and feet on the ground. I believe this has made a thorough explanation: have a dream which might be ambitious and follow the dream by making every effor.
