You are a manager in a large company. You have been informed that a member of your staff often arrives late for work. Write him a memo about the problem: Saying how often the member of staff arrives late Describing the effect on other staff Suggesting what the member of staff should do about the situation Write 40-50 words.
Hi, Jones Nowadays you arrives late for work very often. I feel you may have particular reasons for it. But if you keep going your lateness, other staff in the office may be late like you .I’m worrying about it. How about considering of being more punctual? Brand 3
第二句中的“keep going your lateness”的搭配也不恰当,可以改为“keep being late”。 例如“I feel you may...”, “I am worrying about it...”,还有“How about considering...”。
Mr Jones, I have noticed that you often arrive late for work, especially on Monday mornings. As your colleagues are starting to complain about that, you understand that unless this habit changes,I will take disciplinary action against you. Come and see me tomorrow at 9 a.m.. in my office. Brand 5
“you understand that unless this habit changes,I will take disciplinary action against you”一句很好的一方面体现了作为manager的威信同时也是对员工违纪行为有力的提醒。“Come and see me...”
例题: PART TWO
You are in charge of technical resources in your company. You have just received a letter from the Customer Services Manager at JLM Communications, who are installing a new telephone switchboard at your offices. Look at part of the letter below, on which you have already made some handwritten notes. Then, using all your handwritten notes, write a letter to JLM’s Customer Services Manager. Write 120-140 words. You do not need to provide postal addresses.
