School guards assume duties in Beijing

Two guards escort【陪同】 primary students to school.

About 800 professionally trained school security guards【保安，保镖bodyguard】 took up their posts in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools in Beijing on May 12, following the spate of【突然迸发的、一大群、接连发生的】 recent attacks in China's schools.

These guards are armed with batons【警棍】 and chili spray【辣椒粉喷雾器】 and all wear a protective helmet and vest【背心】.

A security company has signed contracts with over 500 public schools in the capital and is set to provide them with a total of over 2,000 security guards. Another 800 prospective【将来的、预期的】 guards are currently receiving training as thousands more are required.

According to Ma Xuguang of the Beijing Guard Service Company, their recruits all have more than one year of experience as a safety guard，possess the necessary license, and his company offers them an additional one-month training.
