有些短语我们容易混淆，有些则容易翻错，今天与大家分享一些自己积累的短语或者好的表达，这些短语等都是从平时大量的外刊阅读中积累下来的，也可以看下我自己写的一篇名为opinions on vocabulary，http://blog.onlycollege.com.cn/9698/viewspace-10188的文章。

1。 look through sb.

误解：看穿某人。

正解：假装没有看见而不理会某人。

若要表达看穿某人的意思，英语中有个相对应的表达see through sb/ sth.

不过，若是说see sb through 则表示“帮助···度过难关（艰难时刻等）”意思明显有区别，注意分辨。

英语中还有个容易混淆的短语，cut sb.down /  cut sb. dead  前者表示“杀死···”后者表示“假装没看见”，注意区别。

e.g. I  saw him yesterday and greeted him but he just looked straight through me.

e.g. We saw through him from the very beginning.

e.g. It is he that saw Mary through when she was in difficulties.

2. It stands to reason that````     合乎情理

e.g. It stands to reason that you will be fired if you don't work hard.

stand to reason "合乎情理的”， 那么类似的  “合乎逻辑的”英语说法：stand to logic

e.g. What he says doesn't stand to reason.

3.  a good job ( 口语）  幸亏，幸好···

这个短语通常用于句型： It is a good job that```  

e.g. It is a good job that you brought the umbrella with you.

Good job!  这个短语表示“做的好，干的好”，用于夸奖别人的表现等。

与Good job  类似的表达： well done !

4. Anything doing? 行吗？  与   Nothing doing  不行。

别小看不定代词，它们的意思很多，接下去再看几个和不定代词有关的表达吧。

e.g.  I forgot to take the umbrella with me so i would like to borrow yours. Anything doing?

e.g.  "Hey, buddy. Could you give me a lift? (我能搭下顺风车吗？）

        “Nothing doing!"

前面说过不定代词的含义很丰富，这里再举几个例子，like anything (非常，拼命地） ，   anything goes (世界之大，无奇不有） ， have something on sb (有某人的把柄在手上）， something to write home about ( 值得大书特书的事情，非常了不起的事情） come to nothing ( 付诸东流，毫无结果，失败）

e.g.  He works like anything in order to buy a house.

(上面的句子同样也可以说成 He works like mad/ crazy   也表示这个意思）

e.g. Don't make a fuss . Anything goes nowadays.

e.g. Tom has to  be obedient to his friend because his friend has something on Tom. 

e.g. It is really something to write home about !!

e.g. It is sad to hear that all his efforts came to nothing.
