By Zhao Pingyi

They got away
The thieves’ car with thousands of pounds worth of diamonds (和课文有衔接) joined the traffic. Mr. Taylor immediately took a taxi and followed closely their car.

There is no doubt that it was a mad chase through the streets. Just then, the thieves’ car hit another car. However, it went straight instead of stopping. A moment later, the police chased both taxi and thieves. Mr. Taylor’s taxi stopped at traffic lights, while the thieves still went away. The poor taxi driver was stopped by the police because he had been speeding. Mr. Taylor explained the situation to the police and asked for help.

With the help of the police, the thieves’ car was found ten minutes later. It was on the side street. Unfortunately, it was only a car——without thieves or diamonds. In fact, the thieves abandoned the car and escaped on foot with the diamonds!

Seeing the thieves’ car joineding the traffic,(分词结构用得好) Mr. Taylor took a taxi and followed them. Urging the driver to be faster, Mr. Taylor anxiously stared at the thieves’ car. At first, the taxi driver refused to speed up, but when Mr. Taylor told him what had happened, he drove at full speed. A mad chase began through the streets. A few minutes later, the thieves’ car hit another car. The collision was so violently that the thieves’ car turned in a circle and badly damaged, but it did not stop. For Since/As both taxi and the thieves’ car were speeding, the police chased them with the sirens wailing. (for 表原因不放句首,Since/As可以引导原因状语从句) Mr. Taylor’s taxi stopped at traffic lights, running out of petrol. Though two men inside were very angry, swearing and stomping (押头韵,动作描述准确), it was no use. (长短句结合)The thieves had got away. Afterwards, the police caught up with the taxi whose driver was charged with speeding, for he had been speeding through almost the whole city. They refused to let him off, even though Mr. Taylor explained the situation. At last, the thieves' car was found ten minutes later on a side street, but the thieves escaped on foot.

They got away. Their car joined the traffic. Mr. Taylor was very angry and anxious. So he took a taxi to followed the thieves’ car. They chase through the street. As we all know, it is dangerous to chase each other in the street. Because of the thieves drove too fast, they hit another car. (Because放句首一般用来回答Why提问,可用Since/As) But they did not stop, they continued driving. At this time, the police saw the whole process of accident. He chased both taxi and the car which the thieves and Mr. Taylor were in. The taxi stopped at the traffic lights, but the thieves got away!  Not only did the taxi stopped, but also the police stopped too.(alsotoo语义重复) Mr. Taylor explained the situation to the police. Ten minutes later, the thieves’ car was found in the side street. They abandoned the car and escaped on foot.

Finally, the thieves’ car was found ten minutes later. It was stopped on side street. The car was abandoned by two thieves. To he surprised, the thieves escaped on foot.
