昂立外语【新概念培训】分享stike这个词。strike在我们新概念二的课文中其实经常出现，但每次出现学生总会忘记它的意思。今天就来扩展一些strike的用法，加深印象。

其实strike和美国最热爱的运动——baseball相关。strike有“击打”“碰撞”的意思。而在棒球运动中，有一个区域叫strike zone，意为“好球区”。

要是击球员三次错过投手投来的好球，那么这名击球员就只得垂头丧气地放下手里的球棒，也就是说他出局了。 而“出局”用英文来表示就是strike out。而strike out这个棒球用语早已被人们借用到棒球场外的日常生活中了。

strike-out则可用作名词，表示“失败”。

e.g. I've scored a strike-out in business.

我生意失败了

It would strike twelve in twenty minutes' time.

再过20分钟，大钟将敲响12下。

这里strike作“敲击”的意思，类似的意思出现在以下多篇课文中。

*注意stike过去式过去分词皆为struck

快艇撞上了一个浮标，但它仍在水面上快速行驶着。

2. Lesson 84  On strike

Meanwhile, a number of university students have volunteered to drive buses while the strike lasts.

与此同时，有一部分大学生自愿在罢工期间驾驶公共汽车。

此处strike为名词“罢工”

搭配为on strike 罢工中

3. Lesson 58 A blessing in disguise?

So far, not one of them has been struck down by sudden death!

然而到目前为止，还没有一个人暴死呢！
