昂立外语【新概念培训】分享strike这个小词。strike是中考考纲单词，意思是：敲，打击，侵袭；钟鸣。在口译中的常用词，在表意上很有优越性。同学们在该词的发音、动词变化、用法上存在很多问题，今天我们一起来总结一下：
作为动词：
发音：strike重点的字母“i”要发本音，双元音，为元辅e结构的开音节，符合发音规律。
动词变化：strike-struck-struck 记忆成ABB形，比较简单。
用法1：敲击，击打 hit sth. against sharply, with the hand, fist, or weapon
同学们不妨从一个场景入手记住这个含义及用法：我们不要“坐一天和尚，撞一天钟”一样凑合混日子。
敲钟：strike the bell (pic)
划火柴：strike a match
e.g. The big waves struck the rocks of the bank.
巨浪拍击着岸边的岩石。(pic)
He was struck by a heavy blow.
他受到重重的一击。(pic)
这里是vt. strike sth. strike还可以表示“钟鸣”，为vi.

It would strike twelve in twenty minutes' time.
strike表示“钟响”vi，“用力敲击”vt.

快艇撞击了一个浮标，但是继续在水面上快速行驶。
用法2：strike vt. “侵袭”
以上strike用法比较形象具体，都是击打具体一样实物，看看下面由“击打”这一含义引申出来的另外一个意思。

到目前为止，还没有人遭受到死亡的侵袭。这里是“打击，撞击”含义的进一步引申，有受到…“侵袭”之意。（没有人暴死）

许多人死于那场战争。

学习方法：掌握动词含义，可以从理解一种意向入手，通过例子用联想的方式掌握其引申义，抓住每个含义之间的想通之处。
作为名词
strike 表示：罢工 a group's refusal to work in protest against low pay or bad work conditions
go/be on strike
举行罢工
Busmen have decided to go on strike next week. The strike is due to begin on Tuesday.
巴士司机决定下周举行罢工。这场罢工定语下周二开始。
在口译中的用法：
strike sb. as… 给…留下…印象 have an emotional or cognitive impact upon sb.
He struck me as a very serious but friendly person.
他给我留下的印象是一个很严肃但友好的人。
