 post的一些常见用法：

作名词：

1. 职位

He has no qualifications for the post.

他没有资格担任该职位。

2. 邮件

Your duties include checking and dispatching the posts.

你的职责是检查和发送邮件。

3. 标竿

He struggled to run towards the winning post.

他拼命地向获胜标冲去。

作动词：

1. 邮递

I would be quite grateful if you would post this letter.

要是你肯寄这封信，我将十分感激。

2. 张贴

Advertisements have been posted up everywhere announcing the new show.

到处贴满了广告宣传这一新节目。

3. 派遣

After several years in London, he was posted to the embassy in Moscow.

他在伦敦任职几年后被派往驻莫斯科大使馆工作。

4. 急行

He was here on business, so he had to post instead of traveling around leisurely.

他来这儿是出差，所以他不得不匆匆赶路，哪有时间四处闲逛。

作副词：

1. 快速地

She went post to the bank and cashed the cheque.

她急忙赶到银行，把支票兑换成现金。

· 词义辨析: mail V.S. post

· post 多用于英式英语，mail 主要用于美式英语

例如，英国人一般用post表示“寄信”; 美国人习惯用mail表示“寄信”

      I shall post the letter to him tomorrow. (英国英语)
      I shall mail the letter to him tomorrow. (美国英语)

· 作动词时，post和mail都可加双宾语

   e.g. We will post/mail you the booklet early next week.

· post 常可用作定语构成合成词，mail无此用法。

    e.g. It came in the mail. 那东西是邮寄来的。

      The post office is quite near. 邮局很近。

· mail可统称“信件”，但post却不可以

英国人偶尔也用mail，常包含报纸杂志等。英美人都用mail去统指“一包一包的邮件”。

   air mail 航空邮递

   mail order 邮购

   mail train 邮政列车

   He has a large amount of mail to answer every day.

   他每天要回很多信件。

      注意：句中的mail不可改成post。
