在上面新一课本的课文句子中， pool意指“赌注”。其实pool这个词大家非常熟识,意思也很简单，意为“池子，池塘”。但是pool有另外一个比较常用的及物动词，意为“集中”，在此我们简单了解一下吧。

e.g.

She was standing by a pool, about to dive in. (她站在水池旁边，正要往里跳。--名词)

Tom and Bruce pooled our savings to start up a company. (汤姆和布鲁斯把积蓄凑到一起开办了一家公司。--动词)
