climb the walls 不是爬墙，而是表示“感到无能为力”。
e.g. His job soon had him climbing the walls.
他的工作很快使他感到无能为力。
climb down 原意是爬下来，但是也有“退让，让步，屈服”之意。
e.g. He was forced to climb down over the central package in the bill.
他被迫在议案的中心一揽子提议上做出让步。
have a mountain to climb 原意是我有一座山要爬，引申的意思不难猜到，意为“面临挑战”
e.g. He has a big mountain to climb.

Climb 爬和 creep , crawl 的爬的区别
climb ：一般指用手或足爬上或爬下，也指事物上升，如太阳月亮飞机等，还可用作比喻。
e.g. The temperature climbed.
温度慢慢上升
creep ：常指人或动物匍匐爬行，偷偷不出声地，不知不觉地缓慢上升或爬行；也指植物的生长
e.g. They'll creep up on you while you're asleep.
他们会在你睡着的时候悄悄接近你
婴儿爬也可用creep
crawl ：指人或动物以身躯贴着地面缓慢地移动。
e.g. We learn to crawl before we learn to walk．我们学会走路之前先要学会爬
Climb 攀登和 ascend、mount 的攀登的区别
ascend：较为正式，一般指抽象意义的攀登，不是真的用手攀
e.g. He could then ascend to the prime ministerial job after elections in 2015.
并且在随后的2015年大选中，他很可能一举登上总理职位。
climb：含义广泛，侧重运用手足费力地攀登或上升，当然也可指抽象事物
e.g. They boosted him up so he could climb the oak tree.
他们把他托起来，使他能爬上橡树。
mount：书面用语，与ascend相近，但强调的是连续不断地向上攀登或上涨
e.g. The pressure for change continued to mount.
改革的呼声持续高涨。
e.g. He was mounted on a black horse.
他骑着一匹黑色的马。【骑马也可用mount】
