1、[C] (especially BrE) a small bag made of leather, plastic, etc. for carrying coins and

Eg: I took a coin out of my purse and gave it to the child.我从钱包里拿出一枚硬币，然后给那孩子了。

Change purse（=coin purse） n. (AmE) a small bag made of leather, plastic, etc. for carrying coins皮革、塑料等做的装硬币的小包（美英）

A handbag (also purse in AmE) is a bag that women especially carry with them to hold their 

money, keys, etc.尤女士用来装钱、钥匙等的包（美英）

A wallet (also billfold in AmE) is a small leather or plastic case used for keeping bank notes, 

cards, etc. in.（美英中也指钱夹子）装钞票、卡片等的皮革或塑料小包

 2、[sing.] the amount of money that is available to a person, an organization or a 

government to spend: （个人、组织或政府的）财力

Eg:

The car is beyond my purse.我买不起那辆车。

Should spending on the arts be met out of the public purse (= from government 

money)?在艺术方面的花销应超出国库财力吗？

3、[C] (sport) a sum of money given as a prize in a boxing match拳击比赛中的奖金
