中有这样一句话“One of the most handsome cars was a Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost.”。

此处Rolls-Royce为汽车品牌，译为劳斯莱斯。

 其实roll这个词还有其它的含义。

下面这句话选自于罗伯特·詹姆斯·沃勒的《廊桥遗梦》 

He stepped in behind the wheel, lit a Camel, and went through his mental checklist:

two hundred rolls of assorted film, mostly slow-speed Kodachrome; tripods; cooler; 

three cameras and five lenses; jeans and khaki slacks; shirts; wearing photo vest.

在《廊桥遗梦》中，作者向读者展示了罗伯特·金凯与弗朗西丝卡从相逢、相恋到相别的全过程。它仿佛是一面镜子，映照出现代都市人的生命情怀。罗伯特·金凯做出了自己的选择，他选择了走向自然。他自称是“最后的牛仔”，是一个像豹子一样敏捷、自然、本色、强有力的男人，正因如此，他打动了女主人公弗朗西丝卡，也打动了我们。他所选择的方式，亦是我们这些忙碌而无奈的现代人所向往的。 

这句话为男主人公在回想自己的行李清单，two hundred rolls of assorted film意为“两百卷的电影胶卷”，也体现了男主人公的文青气质。roll此处作名词，解释为“……卷”

在牛津高阶词典中的解释：

cylinder made by turning flexible material over and over on itself without folding it 卷状物: Wallpaper is bought in rolls. 壁纸是成卷买的. * a roll of carpet, film, cloth 一卷地毯﹑ 胶 卷﹑布.
