然而fancy这个词在Jane Austin的一部非常有名的小说<Pride and Prejudice>里面也出现过哦！我们看看原句：He walked here,and he walked there,fancying himself so very great！”“他一会儿走到这里，一会儿走到那里,觉得自己有多了不起。”

这里描写的是小说中的男主人公非常的骄傲，当大家都在跟别人友好的交谈跳舞的时候他却一个人在那边骄傲的一会儿走到这里，一会儿走到那里,觉得自己有多了不起。这里的fancy怎么翻译的呢？

If you say that someone fancy themselves as a particular kind of person, you mean that they think,

 often wrongly, that they have the good qualities which that kind of person has. (自) 认为是

例：She fancies herself a bohemian.

她自命为一个放荡不羁的艺术家。

原来fancy oneself +n/adj  就是自认为自己怎么样，或者自认为自己是什么人。

1.If you fancy something, you want to have it or to do it. 想要

例：I just fancied a drink.

我只是想要杯饮料。

2.If you fancy someone, you feel attracted to them, especially in a sexual way. 爱慕

3. You say "fancy" or "fancy that" when you want to express surprise or disapproval. (表示惊讶或反对) 真没想到情感

例："Fancy that!" smiled Conti.

“真没想到！” 康蒂笑着说。

4.If you take a fancy to someone or something, you start liking them, usually for no understandable 

reason. (通常指没有道理的) 爱上

例：Sylvia took quite a fancy to him.

西尔维娅完全爱上了他。
