一支用这种新武器装备起来的探宝队进入了这个岩洞，希望找到埋藏着的金子。

这里的arm作动词，表示“武装”。

e.g. She'd been so terrified that she had armed herself with a loaded rifle.

她是如此害怕，以至于用一支上了膛的步枪把自己武装了起来。

现在我们再回头来分析这则新闻中的这个句子：

The pair are "armed and dangerous" and are thought to have helped Abdeslam travel to 

Hungary in September.

这里“armed”是形容词，表示“武装的；持有武器的”。

那么，这句话的意思就是“这两个人是武装的且危险的，他们在九月曾帮助Abdesalm这个人前往匈牙利”。
