在新二52课   At the moment, they cover every inch of floor space …, cover 是“覆盖”的意思。

在之后的94课中 Some children can cover the whole length…cover 同样做动词表示“走完，行进完”，也可以衍生为读完、看完。

在美剧《老妈》中有这样一句台词: I can get someone to cover my shift. 这里的cover又是什么意思呢？Cover 在棒球用语中指补接，补漏， 因此cover：do sb's work, duties, etc during his absence 代替某人工作﹑ 履行职责等。 如： I'll cover for Jane while she's on holiday.
