1. 【原文】There are many helpful benefits of biking, and one of the helpful benefits we have heard is weight loss.

E-C Passage Translation

1. There is an evidence that having a pet can help a person lead a longer healthier life. A recent study 

concluded that owning a pet can reduce the risk of a heart attack by 2% and that pets can help in reducing

 blooding pressure. Owing a pet can also prolong survival of a heart attack.

开头：there is an evidence that…开头是一个同位语从句，翻译为“有证据表明／显示”，a recent study concluded that 也是同样的翻译方法，“一项调查发现”；lead a … life 固定搭配，过着…的生活； heart attack 心脏病；blooding pressure 血压；prolong 延长；这些都是课上碰到过的单词和词组；整体不难，没有什么生词；关于数字，2%，这个很简单，只要细心，应该不会听错。

2.In general, teachers are reported to be happy with their jobs, despite the current issues with education 

funding a classroom conditions. The profession continues to attract young idealists, although 50% of new 

teachers are gone within 5 years.  

［译文］

总的来说，教师通常感到自己的工作很幸福，尽管现在存在教育经费和教室条件的问题。这一职业继续吸引着年轻的理想主义者，尽管50%的新教师在5年内都选择转行了。

【解析】

这题很简单。In general, 固定搭配，总的来说；teachers are reported＝it is reported that teachers are … 这是一个固定句式，新概念2里面就有上过；

current issues， 当前问题；despite：尽管，虽然；funding 由fund 变过来，是经费的意思；idealists，理想主义者；两个数字都不难，50％ 和5年。

3. The appearance of a sportsman holding a torch now marks the beginning of every Olympic Games. This 

special ceremony dates back to ancient Greece. This ceremony, holding every four years with the site of the 

ancient Olympics, started in Berlin. The most eyecatching events was the arrival of the torch across the 

stadium to light the bowl.

手持火炬的运动员的出现标志着每一次奥运会的开始。这个特殊的仪式能够追溯到古希腊。这个仪式始于柏林， 在古代奥林匹克运动场地每四年举办一次。最吸引人眼球的时刻是穿越了全球体育馆的奥运圣火的到来，并在场馆点燃。

【解析】

appearance，是appear的名词形式，“出现”，注意这里不能翻译为“外表”，在翻译完这个词后，要带进原文来检查一下句意通顺与否；torch 火把，火炬；mark 标志； date back to 追溯到；every four years 每隔四年；site 场地； Berlin 柏林（德国首都，常见的地名需要掌握）；eye-catching，吸引眼球的，（是eye 和catch的复合词，能从字面上猜出词意）；bowl，这里不是“碗”，而是奥运圣火台！翻译的时候，不能说是在碗里点火，这里是指圣火台的形状很像碗，是借用／比喻。
