二、有关英语名词考点的非语法问题

近几年的中考英语对名词的考查有一个非常有趣的现象，那就不考查语法问题，而是考查特定语境中对英语名词的正确选用。更有趣的是，这类考查非语法问题的名词考题在中考英语中出现的几率远远超过诸如名词可数性、单复数、所有格、句法功能等知识点。具体说来，这类考题主要集中在以下两个方面：

1. 考查根据常识来理解语境，从而确定最佳的名词

(1) Bananas, apples and oranges are all _______. (湖南株洲中考题)

A. fruits                 B. vegetables       C. drinks                D. dinner

分析：根据常识可知，香蕉、苹果、橘子都是“水果”（fruits），而不是“蔬菜”（vegetables），也不是“饮料”（drinks），更不是“正餐”（dinner），故答案选A。

(2) —What do you call your father’s sisters?

—______. (山东菏泽中考题)

A. Uncles            B. Cousins          C. Aunts             D. Parents

分析：根据常识可知，一个人应称自己父亲的姐姐或妹妹为“伯母”或“姑母”（Aunts），而不是叫“叔叔”（Uncles），也不是叫“堂姐妹”（Cousins），更不是叫“父母”（Parents），所以答案选C。

2. 考查根据句中关键词来理解语境，从而确定最佳的名词

(1) —Could you tell me how to remember new words quickly?

—Yes, I think a _______ book can help you a lot. (江苏南京中考题)

A. grammar          B. equation           C. punctuation     D. vocabulary

分析：根据前文中的how to remember new words quickly（如何快速记住生词）可知，最佳答案是vocabulary（词汇），即答案选D。

(2) —How many _______ do we need to make fruit salad?

—Two should be enough. (浙江湖州中考题)

A. cabbage         B. potatoes          C. bananas          D. lemon

分析：根据句中的make fruit salad（做水果沙拉）可知，空格处应填一个表示水果的词，故只能选C。

(3) —What a hot day! I am a bit thirsty.

—Would you like some _______? (浙江衢州中考题)

A. noodles         B. meat               C. water              D. bread

分析：根据前一句中的a bit thirsty（有点口渴）可知，空格处应填可以解渴之物，故选water（水），即选C。
