Have automobiles improved our lives or not? why?

       In Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, Romeo died of a letter one day behind time[p1] . If this happens in the modern society, a few hours’ drive would have saved two young lives, turning a heart-breaking tragedy into a happy ending.[p2]  SO,[p3]  automobiles have definitely improved our lives.

       Automobiles have made our lives more convenient by making the distance between humans gradually disappear. It is said that the ancient Egyptians firstly invented the wheels. Though it was regarded as an astonishing invention at that time, the Egyptians would never imagine our world on wheels today. With automobiles, visit to friends and relatives in other cities is no longer a trying task. With automobiles, first aid can be immediately provided in time of urgency[p4] . With automobiles, trip to another country can be as casual, as flexible and as colourful[p5]  as possible. In a word, automobiles have changed[p6]  our lives in every way we can imagine.

       Along with the convenience automobiles provide us with, so-called ‘Automobile culture’ also prevails in every corner of our world. Not only the culture phenomenon itself is fascinating, the thrive[p7]  of car-related products also contributes a lot[p8]  to the economy. People nowadays normally consider automobiles as an essential part of their lives. The automobile culture has already penetrated every aspect of our lives. Automobiles play such an important role in human society that even the thought of denying it sounds the most ridiculous.

       Generally speaking, automobiles have definitely improved our society. From Ford to Smart, the development of automobiles always symbolizes the development in science and technology. We can say that automobile is one of the most important inventions of all time.
